ASHWORTH is a 1969 psychedelic blues rock album from the fictional San Francisco underground scene. Built around Diane Ashworth's raw female vocals, heavy fuzz guitar, distorted organ, blues-rock grooves and extended psychedelic jams, Ashworth captures the darker, heavier side of late-1960s psychedelic rock. Before The Fossils, there was Ashworth. Formed in early 1969, Ashworth was Diane Ashworth's first band — a five-piece psychedelic blues-rock group featuring Diane Ashworth on vocals and tambourine, Marcus Webb on guitar, Eli Marsh on organ and keyboards, Tommy DeLuca on bass, and Wyatt Combs on drums. Their sound was heavier and more blues-driven than the music Diane would later make with The Fossils: fuzzed-out guitar, reverb-drenched solos, distorted Hammond organ, deep bass, powerful drums and long instrumental passage
