The Story Behind Everything Arrives
Everything Arrives started with me, alone, chasing an idea I couldn't put down.
I've always been fascinated by the ocean — not just as an idea, but as something closer to another planet hiding on our own. The pressure, the silence, the way light disappears the deeper you go, the things down there that no one designed, that just exist in the dark whether we ever find them or not. Cave diving especially — the idea of someone swimming into total blackness, trusting a line back to the surface, chasing something they can't even see yet — that image never left me.
I built the band around that feeling before I built anything else. Not writing about diving, but writing as a diver — someone descending toward something unknown, not fully in control of what he finds down there. The ocean became a stand-in for whatever we bury, avoid, or can't stop circling back to — grief, memory, longing, denial. That gave me a structure to build the whole record around: the descent, the pressure, the disorientation, the pull to keep going even when it's not safe to.
Once I had that lens, the tracklist built itself almost like a dive log. After the Storm is the moment before going under. Somewhere Underneath is the descent itself. Nothing Wrong is that strange, false calm that sets in once you're deep enough that turning back feels harder than continuing. By the time you get to Sinking and Falling, the diver isn't in control anymore — he's just being pulled.
The cover came from that same fascination — a sunken monument, something that used to be above water and now belongs entirely to the sea, explored by someone small and alone against all of it. It felt like the right image for a project about going somewhere you can't stay, to find something you might not be able to bring back.
Everything Arrives is the name of the band and the record for the same reason: everything does arrive eventually. Grief, memory, the truth, the bottom. This is my attempt to build a world people can actually descend into, one track at a time.
